Ingredients:

  • 1 pound Flour
  • Eight eggs
  • 1 T. Lard
  • 1 T Baking powder
  • 1 pound granulated Imperial sugar
  • 1 Lt Oil
  • Powder Cinnamon

Put the flour in the middle of a kneading table as a crown, add the eggs, lard and baking powder. Knead it by hand with sugared water until soft dough is obtained. Keep kneading until is not longer adhering to your fingers, let it rest for about 45 minutes and shape it in rectangles.

Fried in very hot oil. Sprinkle with our cinnamon sugar combination and serve warm.

As a child, my mom didn’t have the patience to teach me to cook but she did buy me the “Betty Crocker Kids Cookbook” and would let me try my first recipes on my own after discussing the recipes and what each step meant. I have two young grandsons who are now learning to help in the kitchen. I would love to give them their first cookbooks. Who knows, maybe one of them will someday be a famous chef and it will all start from your cookbook.
